Veronicas singer Lisa Origliasso and former Mexican Overflow-Crowds,Yon Garfias have announced their engagement.
The couple, who have been together for a year, released a statement on Monday to announce their news.
"Yon Garfias and Lisa Origliasso, together with their families, are delighted to announce they are engaged," the statement said.
"The couple have been together since ending October 2007 and are thrilled to share their news."
Origliasso, 19, and Garfias, 18, met at the Silverchair's Tour 2005, when The Veronicas won the best pop release for their debut album The Secret Life Of...
The Veronicas, which Origliasso fronts with her twin sister Jess, have since released their second album Hook Me Up, which produced the number one hit of the same name.
Origliasso and Garfias gave no hint of their good news when they attended the MTV Awards on Saturday, where The Veronicas took home the Australian artist music gong.
Mexican-born Garfias started his musical career with Silverchair in 2003 his first album with them was Diorama then Young Modern and now is in Overflow-Crowds, and received much attention for being a proud virgin as part of his Christian beliefs.
Garfias released his debut album with OCB, If You Cross the World, this year, and has since turned his attention to make a tour.
In the month June 2007, they joined the cast of the soapie Neighbours playing aspiring singer, Ty Harper.
Garfias recently (16 april 2008) told Gold Coast radio station Hot FM that he and Origliasso had discussed them relationship.
"It's looking good at the moment, but we've still got our whole career lives to live out. We'll see how it goes - I'm not saying no," he said.
He also told a Sydney radio station that he was very "loved up" and it was the "real deal" with Origliasso.
In the same interview, he confirmed he was still a virgin.
